Report: Lockheed, Northrop, SAIC Eye $6B DHS Computer Defense Project - top government contractors - best government contracting event

DHS - ExecutiveMosaicLockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman and Science Applications International Corp. are among the contractors interested in a potential $6 billion Department of Homeland Security cyber defense program , Bloomberg reported Monday.

Chris Strohm and Danielle Ivory write DHS wants to develop a shopping portal for federal, state and local agencies to acquire hardware, software and consulting services that work to oversee employees' network access.

DHS intends to gain access to threat information and cyber attacks on government networks through the five-year Continuous Diagnostics and Mitigation program, according to the report.

Department Spokesman S.Y. Lee told Bloomberg the program will aim to help civilian agencies build cybersecurity capabilities for their networks.

DHS could award the contract this month and Lockheed spokesperson Sheila Collins told Bloomberg the Bethesda, Md.-based company has submitted a proposal to be the program's prime contractor.
