TeleCommunication Systems has obtained 45 new patents and six foreign trademarks from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office within the first half of 2013 covering location-based services for mobile technologies.
The company also acquired the rights to utilize more than a thousand patents for location-based services within a a multi-million sales pipeline and product, TCS said Monday.
“There is an abundance of opportunities to leverage our 320+ patents and other intellectual property worldwide,” said Bob Held, TCS vice president of intellectual asset management.
TCS says the patents for mobile location systems involve GPS, location calculation techniques that use timestamps associated with multiple radio frequenty transmission sources.
Other patents cover systems that work to combine the user plane and control plane location techniques into one platform.
