US Banks Take Part in Cyber Attack Preparedness Drill - top government contractors - best government contracting event

CyberAttackNearly 50 financial institutions across the U.S. took part in a simulation exercise Thursday that aimed gauge their readiness in the event of a cyber attack,

The drill, dubbed Quantum Dawn 2, aimed to evaluate how the banking industry addresses threats to their computer networks,Marie McGehee writes in a blog post for Verizon.

“This training exercise is indicative of the threats we now face, especially those in critical infrastructure,” said Bryan Sartin, a director at Verizon.

A recent Verizon report says 37 percent of data breaches affect financial organizations and banks are a primary target of financial theft, hacktivism and cyber espionage operations.

Verizon lists the three types of cyberattack perpetrators as activists, criminals and spies.

“Industries need to tailor their approaches to become more fluid in open, transparent information sharing with their allies, government and law enforcement officers in order to maintain a high-standard security system,” Sartin added.
