BAE Awards $17M Sub Comm Systems Contract to Cohort Subsidiary

Bae-systems-logo_ExecutiveBiz1BAE Systems has awarded a $17.2 million contract to Cohort subsidiary SEA to supply external communications systems for the Astute-class submarine.

The contract requires a system to be retrofitted aboard Astute Boat 6, or HMS Agamemnon, and another on a yet-to-be-named Boat 7, Cohort said Tuesday.

“Nuclear submarines make a vital contribution to the defense of the U.K., and SEA’s external communications system relays everything from family messages for the crew to critical mission orders,” said Andrew Thomis, CEO of independent technology group Cohort plc.

SEA’s work with partners Aish, Selex and Thales is already underway to install the system on three other submarines on the Astute program.
