Bechtel Completes 219-Mile Power Transmission System; Toby Seay Comments

BechtelLogo (1)Bechtel has completed construction work on an electrical transmission line and related infrastructure for the Hanna region of Alberta, Canada.

The project involved 219 miles of power lines, six new substations, more than 1,200 transmission towers and 12 upgraded substations, Bechtel said Monday.

Project team members used a mobile application to access information on land parcels and work to manage environmental impact, the company said.

“The complexity of this project was in the logistics of constructing a variety of transmission-line segments over a vast geographic area, with varying site conditions,” said Toby Seay, president of Bechtel’s transmission business line.

Bechtel also holds a contract to build 300 miles of high-voltage electricity transmission system that is intended to run from northeast Edmonton to southeast Calgary.
