Boeing Co. has awarded Avcorp Industries Inc. a purchase contract to build tunnel covers for Chinook choppers as Boeing seeks to further its aerospace works in Canada.
The aircraft components will comprise metal bonded aerostructures that will serve as covers to the driveshaft running between the rotors of CH-47 Chinook helicopters, Avcorp said Friday.
Boeing aims for the project to fulfill the Industrial and Regional Benefits programs in compliance with Canada's policies for contractors that have won defense and security projects in the country.
The company currently executes four procurement programs for the CC-177 airlifter, ScanEagle unmanned aircraft system, CH-147 helicopter and the Mercury Global program under the IRB.
Avcorp has been providing Boeing with several aircraft components, including the wheel well fairings and wing tip panels for the 737 and CH-47 Chinook helicopter cockpit nose enclosure assemblies, Avcorp says.
