DullesAirportCisco and Triple Canopy will co-sponsor a fund-raising event for Special Olympics Virginia Sept. 14 at Dulles International Airport in cooperation with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, the Sun Gazette reported Aug. 20.

The Dulles Day Festival and Plane Pull has raised nearly $1.5 million for athletes with disabilities since the competition started nearly two decades ago.

This year’s affair will include a 5-kilometer race for the first time along with the traditional plane pull competition that is held as part of a torch run sponsored by SunTrust and Enterprise, according to the report.

Admission is free but competing teams in the adults’ Plane Pull and Kids Truck Pull contests need to raise at least $1,250 and $80, respectively.

Plane Pull competitions are also staged in Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, Tennessee and Texas.
