Walter Rakowich, who retired in December 2012 as CEO of commercial property firm Prologis, was appointed as the 12th member of Iron Mountain's board of directors on Friday.
The 18-year Prologis veteran currently serves the boards of several charitable and non-profit organizations in Colorado, Iron Mountain said Monday.
He also serves on the board of directors at Host Hotels & Resorts and on the board’s audit committee.
Rakowich brings international finance, management and real estate experience to the company, President and CEO William Meaney said.
Rakowich served in several senior-level positions at Prologis and started as CEO in 1998.
He started his career at Price Waterhouse as an auditor and tax consultant, then worked as a principal and partner at Trammell Crow Co. for nine years.
