AMGeneralLogoAM General wants to restart operation of Vehicle Production Group's mobility vehicle business after buying the Energy Department's $50 million secured loan to VPG, the South Bend Tribune reported Sept. 8.

Jim Meenan writes AM General's new company Mobility Ventures LLC is looking to resume production, sales and product development functions of VPG's MV-1 business that had closed earlier this year.

The move is intended to help open hundreds of new jobs at a Mishawaka, Ind.-based assembly plant, according to the report.

Jeff Adams, AM General spokesman, told the publication the company is assessing the staffing requirements for restoring the MV-1 assembly.
