CAE and Ambulance Victoria have designed a training system for medical professionals to handle multiple casualties in times of emergencies at the SimTect/SimHealth exhibition in Australia Tuesday.
Ambulance Victoria Virtual Paramedic, a finalist at the SimTect Serious Games Showcase and Challenge, works to offer simulation scenarios of situations that need immediate response, CAE said Tuesday.
The system is designed to help paramedics fulfill the roles of senior healthcare personnel and administer first aid treatment to victims during disasters.
“Mass casualty incidents can happen anywhere at any time, so we need to train all Ambulance Victoria paramedics (on how) to respond and make quick, informed decisions,” Ambulance Victoria CEO Greg Sassella said.
Sassella added CAE and Ambulance Victoria made the simulation-based system with the goal of preparing paramedics to handle crisis situations.
