CGI-logo - ExecutiveMosaicCGI Group has won an eight-year, $120 million contract to help Smart DCC Ltd. deploy 53 million smart meters throughout the U.K. between 2015 and 2020.

Smart DDC selected CGI to design, setup and operate a system that will work to help utilities acquire and deliver information to citizens for bill management and energy usage tracking, CGI said Wednesday.

The database is intended to be accessible from all of Smart DCC’s shared service centers in South Wales, according to CGI.

“We are delighted to be at the heart of the GB Smart Metering Program, which is vital to our country’s energy security, affordability and carbon reduction plans,” said Tara McGeehan, director of CGI UK’s utilities sector.

CGI has provided energy services to eight utilities in the U.K.
