AirplaneDynetics has engineered a new radar system for aviation customers to identify and address security threats in airports, All Alabama reported Friday.

Lucy Berry writes the Huntsville, Ala.-based company built the groundAware surveillance radar to help security personnel detect foreign objects on airport grounds and deploy resources in order to prevent risks.

The radar system is compatible with video surveillance and works to monitor for the presence of intruders, vehicles and wildlife, according to the report.

Greg Lester, executive vice president for defense, space and intelligence programs at Dynetics, told All Alabama the company designed groundAware to help airport security personnel track situations in real time and prevent threats.

Dynetics was scheduled to groundAware Sunday and Monday at the Airports Council International conference in San Jose, Calif., All Alabama reports.
