Tony-SmeraglinoloEngility Holdings Inc. recently won six task orders totaling $28 million from the Statement Department to train U.S. forces in various African countries in a move aimed to further the government's peacekeeping efforts worldwide.

Engility's personnel will work to provide training services to U.S. troops in Djibouti, Nigeria, Malawi, Benin, Rwanda and Tanzania under the African Contingency Operations Training and Assistance program managed by the State Department's Bureau of African Affairs, Engility said Wednesday.

The U.S. government aims for the ACOTA program to enhance participation of African partner nations in peace operations worldwide, the company says.

Tony Smeraglinolo, Engility president and CEO, said the company aims to work with the State Department to carry forward the peacekeeping program.

That program began in 2005, training peacekeepers, staff, as well as battalion, brigade and multinational force personnel in Africa.

The State Department's Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, the Office of the Secretary of Defense and Africa Command have been collaborating to manage the program and its policies, Engility says.

“Engility team members in Africa are supporting important U.S. government-sponsored programs that require experience and multiple skill sets,“ Smeraglinolo added.
