HPLogo1 EbizHewlett-Packard has introduced a continuous monitoring service for government agencies to detect and act on information technology security risks.

The company aims for the service to work in real time and identify, assess and report vulnerabilities arising from unwarranted network hardware or software, HP said Tuesday.

HP designed the continuous monitoring tool to help government customers view threats and trends, examine security posture, protect sensitive data and schedule investments.

Betsy Hight, vice president of HP Enterprise Services’ cybersecurity solutions group for the U.S. public sector, said the company released the service to help government agencies assess risks, make decisions and form response strategies.

“Protecting our nation's data and network infrastructure is critically important to the country's safety, ability to compete and economic posture,“ Hight added.

The service is designed as an open architecture for customers to integrate existing infrastructure into the service.
