inmarsat-logoInmarsat Plc was recently selected by government and military customers abroad to demonstrate satellite communications services, Satnews Daily reported Tuesday.

Two armed forces clients already purchased Inmarsat“™s L-TAC communications service and other government customers from several countries recently tested a communications-on-the-move offering that was launched in July, according to the report.

Andy Start, president of global government at Inmarsat, told the publication L-TAC provides access to L-Band capacity in order to address the communications requirements for military customers overseas.

L-TAC works to convert ultra-high frequency radio signals to L-Band for transmission across Inmarsat“™s global network, reports Satnews.

Military personnel can affix a small antenna to their vehicles or backpacks in order to access that network using existing UHF radios, the report says.
