Jones Lang LaSalle has unveiled the results of a sustainability study it conducted regarding the real estate industry during a reception September 12 at the Warwick Street offices in London.
Through the 2013 Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark study, it was found that 59 out of 292 European companies reached Green Stars status, Jones Lan LaSalle announced Friday.
Guest speakers at the event included Sophie Walker, Jones Lang LaSalle Sustainability director, Philippa Shire from the GRESB and Bill Hughes from Legal & General Property.
“We“™ve seen the launch of key frameworks putting emphasis on “material“ disclosure for mainstream investors, the first UK companies getting to grips with mandatory carbon disclosure and the biggest stock exchange – NYSE Euronext – becoming the 8th stock exchange to join the UN sustainability regime,” said Walker.
“GRESB“™s upward trend in disclosure shows that the real estate industry is responding positively in this milestone year, with sustainability gradually being driven in to the nuts and bolts of investment decisions and operational management,” Walker added.
