NetApp has created a cloud data management tool with the goal of helping enterprises simply their cloud architectures.
The tool is built on the company“™s Data ONTAP data storage operating system, a universal platform that works to move data from one private, public or hybrid cloud model to another, NetApp said Tuesday.
“Regardless of the ultimate computing destination, the CIO will maintain ownership of the organization’s data,“ said Jay Kidd, senior vice president and chief technology officer at NetApp.
“The introduction of new multicloud architectures makes data governance more complex because data is distributed, and not under direct control,“ Kidd added.
NetApp plans in later months to roll out other tools that work to help accelerate transitions to the cloud, including new FlexPod reference architectures, “on-the-fly“ hypervisor translation technology and new collaborations and partnerships.
