Northrop Grumman has awarded Curtiss-Wright an $8 million follow-on contract to engineer a radar processing technology for use in a U.S. Air Force aircraft program, Military & Aerospace Electronics reported Wednesday.

John Keller writes Curtiss-Wright's Santa Clarita, Calif.-based control defense services segment will work to build a digital signal processing system for the Joint Surveillance and Target Attack Radar System aircraft.

The Air Force intends for the C2ISR aircraft (command, control, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) to manage air-to-ground and surveillance operations, according to the report.

Curtiss-Wright will design a technology for the Radar Airborne Signal Processor system to process Joint STARS' radar signal and detect ground targets, Keller reports.
