Northrop Grumman has started constructing a new manned aircraft center in Melbourne, Fla. in a move to expand development and production of its products and services, Brevard Times reported Friday.
The planned 200,000-square-foot facility is being built at West NASA Boulevard and could add about 550 jobs after its scheduled completion by mid-next year.
Lynda Weatherman, CEO and president of the Space Coast’s Economic Development Commission, told the Brevard Times Northrop aims to offer 1,000 more jobs with annual salary of around $75,000 by 2017
Northrop currently employs approximately 1,200 people in Melbourne, according to the report.
