Optum, a healthcare services company, has launched a toll-free help line number that is designed to give affected residents of the Colorado floods access to trained mental health specialists over the phone.
The 24/7 service intends to help callers manage stress and anxiety due to the flooding and also receive community resources referrals, Optum announced Monday.
“Our hearts go out to Coloradans affected by the floods,” said Andy Sekel, Ph.D., CEO of Optum’s specialty networks business.
“Unexpected events such as this can be disorienting and stressful. Our mental health specialists can help individuals talk through these reactions and also share information about key community resources,” he added.
Optum said the free service, available by calling 866-342-6892, will be available to the public and will continue “for as long as necessary.”
