Science Applications International Corp. and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association are collaborating to develop a guide on how cooperatives should implement smart grid information technology strategies.
The “Next Generation Utility IT Architecture“ guide will contain a review of smart grid requirements, approach studies and implementation management, SAIC said Monday.
SAIC and the NRECA aim for the manual to help users view technologies, best practices, smart grid components and various IT strategies.
Steve Winstead, SAIC senior systems architect, said the guide is meant to help NRECA achieve its goals of helping build IT architectures for smart grids.
The study is also intended to help establish smart grid technology roadmap for using insights from big data, cloud computing and analytics.
NRECA will recommend actions on how to determine gaps and set goals for developing strategies, designing infrastructure, integrating systems, automation processes and analyses.
