NetApp and security controls provider Tripwire have added five new customers of their joint energy utilities management suite.

New users of the Tripwire NERC Solution Suite are federal or nonfederal and together supply energy to about 70 million citizens in more than 20 states, Tripwire said Wednesday.

The Tripwire NERC Solution Suite works to automate compliance with North American Electric Reliability Corporation standards on critical infrastructure protection by using NetApp’s tools for virtualization, storage and big data.

“Our partnership allows us to provide a full-service offering for energy organizations, including compliance with the upcoming standard, NERC CIP version 5,” said Lee Vorthman, chief technology officer for federal civilian agencies at NetApp.

According to Tripwire, the process toward NERC compliance involves periodic monitoring of critical assets and data while meeting requirements that constantly change.
