Dave Cooper, a retired U.S. Navy SEAL and former command master chief of the Naval Special Warfare Development Group, has been appointed president of the nonprofit Navy SEAL Foundation.
He will report to CEO Robin King and work with the board of directors to provide support and assistance the Naval Special Warfare community, the Navy SEAL Foundation said Thursday.
Cooper will also be responsible for public relations and building relationships with current and potential donors and constituents.
The Navy SEAL Foundation aims to support the special warfare community via warrior support and family services; educational programs; tragedy assistance; legacy preservation and survivor support.
Cooper is a 20-year special warfare and joint special operations forces veteran and has been deployed to missions in countries such as Bosnia, Iraq, Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq.
He is a recipient of three Presidential Citations, a Silver Star, six Bronze Stars with Valor and two Distinguished Meritorious Service medals.
