DataDirect Networks has helped the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center upgrade its storage system as part of that center“™s efforts to address its growing volume of science data.
NERSC used four petabytes of DDN’s Networks Storage Fusion Architecture platform to store data on science research, experiments, simulations and analyses, DataDirect said Tuesday.
Jason Hick, NERSC storage systems group lead, said both organizations intend for the technology to fulfill the needs of users.
DDN“™s converged infrastructure technology works to embed file systems inside the storage controller in order to eliminate both latency and the need for additional network connections and servers.
NERSC operates at 80 gigabytes per second with fewer systems and writes temporary data into a central hub for analysis.
