Elbit Systems has received a follow-on order from the Republic of Korea Army to supply advanced helmet mounted display systems for its SURION helicopters.
Under the four-year contract, Elbit will supply the HMD systems to Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd., the manufacturer of the SURION helicopters, Elbit Systems announced Wednesday.
The initial contract was awarded in 2009 as part of the Korean Helicopter Program.
“We consider the Republic of Korea a very important market, and we have recently established a local company, Sharp Elbit Systems Aerospace, Inc. (“SESA”), a jointly-owned company with Sharp Aviation K Inc., to focus on advanced military aircraft avionics,” said Yoram Shmuely, Elbit Systems aerospace division general manager.
We are considering involving SESA in the performance of this HMD project as well,” he added.
