A Hughes Network Systems business unit has implemented a communications-on-the-move system for emergency response units in southwestern England.
Hughes Europe deployed its 9450-C11 mobile satellite terminal over the Inmarsat Broadband Global Area Network to give Wessex Water a unified communications system that is designed to work in areas with no wireless 3G coverage, Hughes Europe announced Monday.
Wessex Water provides water and sewage treatment services to over 1.3 million in the South West England region.
“Until now, Wessex Water’s engineers have faced an uncertain communications environment when responding to a major incident,” said Chris O’Dell, Hughes Europe vice president of sales and marketing.
Hughes also deployed a platform that works to synchronize mobile devices and provide users a first-line help desk that is integrated into Wessex Water’s existing network.
