IBM has obtained a U.S. patent for a method designed to analyze resource allocation in data centers and automate cloud computing services based upon customer needs.
The patent, titled “Cloud Service Cost-Optimal Data Center Assignment,” aims to help cloud providers manage infrastructure, performance and cost issues, IBM said Friday.
“We are focused on inventing new ways to address challenges in large complex data centers and foster a new era of cloud innovation,” said Yu Deng, IBM master inventor and patent co-inventor.
IBM said it created the approach to simplify cloud technology deployments and service delivery to clients.
The company says it invests more than $6 billion in research and development projects every year.
