NCR Corp. has been awarded a delivery order for mobile technology designed to help the Transportation Security Administration speed-up and secure passenger identification at U.S. airports.

The consumer transactions technology company will supply boarding pass scanners starting in October, NCR said Wednesday.

“Making passenger travel safer and easier requires a blend of people, processes and technology,” said Stan Ratcliffe, president at NCR Government Systems.

Ratcliffe added the company will leverage its experience with consumer transactions to assist the TSA with this national security undertaking.

The contract is part of TSA’s goal to expand passenger participation in its pre-screening programs.
