Northrop, VITA Receive Cybersecurity Partnership Award from McAfee, Center for Digital Gov’t

Northrop Grumman and the Virginia Information Technologies Agency were honored for a partnership project intended to decrease cyberattacks at state agencies, Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Tuesday.

Peter Bacque writes that the partnership received the Center for Digital Government and McAfee Inc.‘s cybersecurity integration partnership award last week at the McAfee Focus 13 Security Conference in Las Vegas.

Jim Kane, Northrop Grumman VP who leads the company’s Virginia project, said strong partnerships are important to security protection and a strong cyber defense.

According to the Center for Digital Government, the 13-year, $2.3 billion partnership has thus far transformed the state’s information technology infrastructure and provided updated services delivery for 89 agencies in more than 2,300 sites.

“Protecting state networks and citizen data from unauthorized access is of the utmost importance to our state and nation and I’m very pleased to have been recognized in this area,” said Sam Nixon, Virginia’s chief information officer.
