The international health enterprise will use tools such as the Oracle Health Sciences Translational Research Center and Exadata Database Machine for the five-year program, Oracle said Tuesday.

“Just eight months into our five-year healthcare analytics initiative, we were able to identify molecular differences in breast cancers that may lead to new breakthroughs in treatments and outcomes moving forward,” said Dr. Steven Shapiro, chief medical and scientific officer at UPMC.

UMPC scientistsused genomic and clinical data from public and private sources to determine the pathways and genes involved with pre- or post-menopausal breast cancer and to develop age-based treatments.
