Virtustream will host the Interior Department‘s financial and business management system in an enterprise cloud computing platform as a subcontractor to Unisys for a potential eight-year, $44 million task order.
The department awarded Unisys the first task order under its 10-year Foundation Cloud Hosting Services contract vehicle, Virtustream said Wednesday.
Unisys is one of 10 companies that holds spots on that vehicle, which is worth up to $10 billion for all awardees.
Ted Davies, president of Unisys Federal Systems, said Virtustream will offer DOI a consumption-based pricing model to host the system in the company’s cloud.
Virtustream will use its infrastructure-as-a-service cloud platform that is designed to meet the DOI’s compliance, reliability, security and business requirements.
The company will also work to leverage its micro-VM technology and xStream cloud management platform in order to fulfill the department’s requirements.
