Exelis has won a $7 million contract to provide radar signal simulators to the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Military & Aerospace Electronics reported Friday.
John Keller writes the U.S. Navy will use 33 of the 62 simulators ordered to test and measure the MH-60R and S-70B Seahawk helicopters’ avionics systems for radar warning and electronic surveillance.
Australia and Brazil will use the rest under a foreign military sales agreement, according to the report.
The AN/PLM-4 radar signal simulator is designed to send out radio frequency signals to test electronic equipment and missile warning and detection systems on helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, surface ships and submarines.
