SAP AG and the University of Guelph have partnered to develop a sensor system for gathering green roof data in an effort to help organizations address energy usage and costs, Computer Dealer News reported Friday.
Jeff Jedras writes SAP intends for the Systems of Things research project to combine connectivity, cloud platform, device management, big data, event processing, predictive analytics and applications for building owners to gain insights into sensor-generated information.
Steve Lucas, president of platform solutions for SAP, said the sensor system is aimed at helping clients monitor operations, generate profits and seek growth opportunities, according to the report.
The sensor technology will work to gather data on moisture content, run-off composition, fire detection, temperature and light levels for centralized inspection system, CDN reports.
Jedras writes users can also monitor and control the roof system through the web or mobile devices.
