Thales and Spire Payments are partnering to deliver a pin-based mobile payment technology merchants that are seeking to adopt mobile point of sale systems.
The new tool is designed to integrate the Spire PosMate Smart and the Thales payShield 9000 hardware security moduless, the companies announced Tuesday.
“Mobile acceptance has seen tremendous growth globally over the past year, but there has remained a gap between the payment options available at fixed, in-store point of sale terminal and mobile devices,” said Ian Hermon, Thales mobile payments specialist.
“Furthermore, the fact that mobile acceptance devices have lacked the appropriate security technologies to qualify for lower fee structures has penalized smaller merchants that are accepting card payments for the first time,” he added.
Both companies aim to link security audits with the communication paths between merchants and PSPs.
