Bechtel National Security Sites Win 13 NNSA Sustainability Awards; Craig Albert Comments

BechtelLogo (1)Three national security sites managed by Bechtel have won a total of 13 sustainability awards from the National Nuclear Security Administration.

The National Nuclear Security Administration Sustainability Awards for 2013 recognizes programs that advance sustainability and increase energy, water, vehicle efficiency and reduce greenhouse gases, pollution and waste, Bechtel announced Tuesday.

Bechtel’s Y-12 National Security Complex won four Best in Class and two Environmental Stewardship awards; the Los Alamos National Laboratory won two Best in Class and two Environmental Stewardship awards; and the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory won two Best in Class and one Environmental Stewardship awards.

The National Nuclear Security Administration selected 18 award winners out of 28 submitted nominations, Bechtel noted.

“Sustainability helps ensure the long-term success of these projects, which ultimately better serves the nation. We work with our customers and team members to ensure that we uphold our commitment and meet our sustainability goals on all our projects,” said Craig Albert, Bechtel Systems & Infrastructure Inc. president.

The Reston, Va.-based firm won more than 12 sustainability awards in 2012.
