Cisco has introduced a web-based platform intended to help patients connect and communicate with their healthcare providers from any device and location.
Extended Care works to secure online physician-patient communications and give users access to video consultations, pre-appointment questionnaires and wellness educational resources, Cisco said Thursday.
David Plummer, Cisco general manager for care-at-a-distance solutions, said the company aims for customers to be more engaged in their healthcare by using the telemedicine software.
The platform is also meant to enable users to monitor and update clinical information using mobile devices anywhere, according to the firm.
Cisco designed the tool with an open application programming interface that works to help clients integrate third-party applications into their existing patient portals.
