Enterprises who are looking to adopt cloud tools for their business should carefully choose a provider that can match their specific needs, says CJ Radford, a lead cloud strategist at Vormetric.
Radford told New Electronics magazine that confidence in the cloud is about minimizing the risks involved in outsourcing certain services.
“For basic data storage, there is often the capability to encrypt information stored in the cloud solution and keep the encryption key that controls access to this storage locally,“ he said to New Electronics magazine.
“When this capability is used, it greatly reduces the risk of a full (software-as-a-service) implementation by eliminating or reducing a number of threat and attack vectors,“ he added.
Some organizations have resorted to “partial“ adoption by way of the hybrid cloud model, for example, keeping email and web hosting off site and accounting, human resources and payroll in-house, Radford says.
