A Cubic Corp. subsidiary has won a $112 million contract to develop virtual training equipment and simulators for each variant of the U.S. Navy‘s Littoral Combat Ship mission bays.
Cubic Defense Systems will design desktop and hands-on training devices to simulate different stages of a ship’s operations including preparing, handling, launching, securing and recovering a ship and its equipment, Cubic said Tuesday.
Dave Schmitz, president at Cubic Defense Systems, said the company plans to supply the Navy with training tools required to teach the LCS crew about ship“™s lifecycle.
The Navy aims to install the hardware at training sites for LCS ships based in in Mayport, Fla., and San Diego.
Cubic will conduct the work at the company’s Orlando, Fla.-based facility for the Naval Air Systems Command’s training systems division.
