DoE Upgrades Battelle’s Natl Lab Performance Rating; Juan Alvarez Comments

battelle - ExecutiveMosaicThe U.S. Department of Energy has upgraded Battelle Energy Alliance‘s performance rating of its operations at the Idaho National Laboratory, the Idaho State Journal reported Dec. 5.

The DoE raised Battelle’s rating to 91.4% of available fee during fiscal year 2013 from 86% of the total contract fee during fiscal year 2012, the company’s lowest since it began work at the laboratory in 2005.

“I am very pleased with DOE's recognition of our efforts this past year as we worked very hard to overcome the adversities of the 2012 operational setbacks and the fiscal reality of 2013,“ Juan Alvarez, Idaho National Laboratory deputy director for management told the Post Register.

The maximum the federal government can pay Battelle for the contract is $18.5 million per year.

The Idaho National Laboratory is the DoE’s nuclear energy research and development facility, focused on nuclear energy and technology, energy and environment and homeland security.
