H. Brian Thompson, executive chairman of the board of directors at worldwide cloud network provider Global Telecom & Technology, Inc., has written a an autobiography where he details his life as a telecommunications executive.
The Red Thread is Thompson’s business memoir that takes readers through his various leadership roles in the telecommunications industry.
Prior to serving as executive chairman at GTT, Thompson was CEO at the McLean, Va.-based company and continues to lead his own private equity investment and advisory firm Universal Telecommunications, Inc.
Thompson also served as chairman of Comsat International and vice chairman of Qwest Communications and was executive vice president at MCI Communications .Â
The industry veteran was chief executive and chairman of the board at Global TeleSystems Group and LCI International.
He currently sits on the board of directors at Axcelis Technologies, Pendrell Corp., Penske Automotive Group and Sonus Networks.
The book centers around Thompson’s executive career and the telecommunications industry a whole and is meant to offer advice to younger business leaders.
He mentions in the preface that he also wrote the book to share his thoughts about the current state of companies and their leaders.
Thompson describes the “red thread” as the character traits and behaviors that follow someone throughout their life.
