Peter Tippett, Verizon - ExecutiveBizDr. Peter Tippett, chief medical officer and vice president at Verizon Enterprise Solutions, recently spoke with HIT Consultant Media about the company’s approach to health information technology compliance in an interview published Thursday.

Tippett told interviewer Lois Drapin at the 2013 mHealth Summit that Verizon uses digital signing and two-factor identification platforms in order to comply with federally mandated healthcare rules.

“We at Verizon don’t see ourselves as an entity that is going out with a product that says buy my product,” Tippett said, according to the report.

“We see ourselves as an entity that is going to lay infrastructure out that is going to raise all boats in the health IT ecosystem.”

Tippett predicts that physician consulting could transform into a managed service and eventually into software programs, Drapin writes.

He also discussed Verizon’s FDA-approved Converged Health Management platform that is built to help clinicians monitor patient vital signs from mobile devices across different networks.
