John Harris II, Raytheon International CEO, has asked industry and government leaders to build up defense technologies through transatlantic industrial cooperation.

Harris addressed his statement to participants of a panel discussion on the future of European defense during the 50th Munich Security Conference, Raytheon said Friday.

“We need to pursue initiatives that deliver greater cost efficiencies in a way that maintains and improves our defense capabilities,” he said.

Raytheon logo_EbizHarris told the panel that open markets arising from a U.S.–EU free trade agreement will create opportunities for European and North American defense firms.

“Jointly, we can set standards and serve as an engine to boost defense cooperation, globally,” he added.

Raytheon’s holdings and partnerships across Europe develop services using local technologies for customers in Europe, the U.S. and worldwide.
