Comtech EF Data and Intelsat has launched a series of mobile backhaul services on more than 1.5 gigahertz of capacity for satellite-based mobile network operators in South America.
Comtech said Thursday its integration of Intelsat’s satellite coverage with C- and Ku-band frequencies is intended to address the need for streamlined operations, optimized capacity and sustainable connectivity.
“As MNOs expand their networks in size and scope, such as adding high capacity data services, the need for high-throughput and high-availability (99.95%) connectivity remains crucial to their continued success,” said Stephen Good, vice president for network services product management for Intelsat.
The new services encompass 2G, 2.5G, 3G and 4G/LTE networks.
