IBMlogo3 EbizIBM Corp. has been selected to develop and manage a unified road toll system in Norway for the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

The AutoPASS Grindgut traffic management system will be designed to process millions of vehicles annually through big data and analytics as well as mobile technologies, IBM said Monday.

Arne Norheim, country manager of IBM Norway, said the company intends for the technology to help NPRA gain insights into real-time traffic data in order to predict future conditions.

Roadside traffic data will be integrated into user accounts and NPRA’s customer relationship management system while future customer interactions will be performed through the web and mobile platforms.

IBM will work to maintain the toll system through its Smarter Application Management tool for three years.

The AutoPASS Grindgut technology is scheduled for delivery across Norway in 2015.
