Raytheon plans to transfer its operations from Garland, Texas to a new office complex in Richardson by the fourth quarter of the company’s 2015 fiscal year.
The company intends to construct three buildings at the Richardson site on 489,000 square feet of space, Raytheon announced Wednesday.
Raytheon’s Garland complex houses employees from the company’s missile systems; space and airborne systems; and intelligence, information and services business units.
Lynn Dugle, president of the IIS unit, said 1,700 employees will move from the Garland office to Richardson and the company intends to expand the Richardson site depending on growth.
The company is considering options for the future of the Garland facility, which has operated since the 1950s.
