Matt Newsome was promoted to senior vice president and general manager of the North America and South America operations of Cubic Transportation Systems from serving as vice president and regional director of West Coast.
Newsome will be responsible for the overall performance of the company’s programs in the regions and the execution of NextCity, an intelligent travel offering, the company announced Thursday.
“Matt is a seasoned 22-year executive with Cubic who has progressed through a number of roles and challenging assignments that have proven his management, leadership and customer relations skills,†said Steve Shewmaker, Cubic Transportation Systems president and Cubic Corp. executive vice president.
 Newsome, who joined Cubic Transportation Systems in 1991 as a mechanical engineer, will succeed Richard Wunderle who is retiring.
