General Atomics has moved to expand its manufacturing facility in its Shannon, Miss.-based site and plans to open 80 new positions there.
Product portfolios for defense, nuclear, oil and energy storage clients will be relocated to the Heritage Bag building at the Tupelo/Lee Industrial Park South, the Mississippi Development Authority said Monday.
“There is significant upward potential in many of these products which we are adding to our manufacturing base in Mississippi,” said Scott Forney, senior vice president of General Atomics’ electromagnetic systems group.
San Diego-based General Atomics intends to grow its total manufacturing space in Mississippi to 367,000 square feet with expansions and renovation work on the Heritage Bag facility.
The Mississippi Development Authority and Community Development Foundation contributed to the Heritage Bag renovations.
