Thales has received an initial order for its new radio product from Dextera Global at a UK Home Office exhibition in London.
The Cougar Team Radio is scheduled for release on March 31 and features a built-in GPS tool and relay mode for extended coverage through 3G and wireless connectivity in rough environments, Thales said Thursday.
Winston Mahaffy, director for radio communication products at Thales UK, said the integrated radio system is intended for customers to meet security and operability requirements of end users.
Cougar Team Radio is built to work with an Android smartphone to monitor team members in real time through an integrated operation center.
The radio’s communication system via smartphones and across other networks is encrypted, Thales says.
