Saab LogoSaab continues to support aircraft manufacturers Airbus and Boeing by supplying composite and metal components, such as wing parts, doors and hatches under Saab’s civil aircraft production business based in Linköping, Sweden.

Saab most recently signed a contract to supply the attachment structure for Airbus A350XWB-1000‘s landing flaps, the company said Sunday.

The December 2013 contract extends Saab’s support to long-time partner Airbus after producing Mid and Outer Fixed Leading Edge wing components for the Airbus A380 and ailerons for the Airbus A320 family.

They have also partnered on the Clean Sky environmental project, along with the European Commission and other aerospace companies, to reduce carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides and noise emissions in European air space by 20-40 percent.

Saab is helping develop a new wing technology that is expected to limit emissions and fuel consumption, as well as an energy-efficient electrical de-icing system.

The company has also been providing cargo doors and access hatches for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner since 2005.
