medical imaging systemA Toshiba subsidiary has been given approval to operate its computed tomography system for interoperability with the U.S. Air Force‘s network.

Toshiba America Medical Systems added Microsoft Windows 7 and application whitelisting features to its CT platform in order to meet the Defense Department‘s data security requirements, Toshiba said Monday.

“This breakthrough has opened doors to the commercial industry to offer customers access to the same level of security as the U.S. Air Force,” said Satrajit Misra, senior director of Toshiba’s CT business unit.

The CT technology update is meant to secure military health information against malware attacks, according to Toshiba.
